Lyons Advance to All A Semifinals with 12-4 Win Over Crittenden

Jake Klueppel went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and four runs batted in, and the Lyon County Lyons used a seven-run seventh inning to put away Crittenden County 12-4 Monday night.
Lyon (7-5) advances in the 2nd Region All ‘A’ Classic and will next face Dawson Springs in semifinal action Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in Marion. The opening game will have University Heights Academy playing Fort Campbell.
The championship game is set for Thursday at Crittenden County, with the regional winner advancing to sectional action.
Crittenden (5-5) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on Monday thanks to Jayden Carlson’s two-run single with two outs.
Lyon cut the gap to 2-1 in the second on Brody Williams’ RBI single, then took the lead with three runs in the top of the third.
Gabe Board scored on an error to tie the game. Klueppel then doubled to the fence in left field on a ball that looked like it might leave the park when it left the bat. That drove in two runs and put Lyon up 4-2.
Lyon made it 5-2 in the fifth on an RBI single by Austin Long.
Crittenden closed to within 5-4 in the bottom of the fifth, with runs coming across on a balk and an error. But the Rockets left the potential tying run on second base.
Lyon then put the game away with its big rally in the seventh. Williams doubled home the first run of the inning, then Klueppel followed with his second two-run double of the night. An error allowed another run to score to make it 9-4, still with no outs in the inning.
A run came in when Board reached on an error. A bases-loaded walk by Travis Yancy forced in a run. A wild pitch allowed another runner to score to make it 12-4.
Williams was 2-for-4 and drove in two for the Lyons while Board was 2-for-5 with an RBI.
For Crittenden, Trace Adams went 3-for-4.
The two teams are scheduled to meet again on Friday in Marion in a 5th District make-up date.
