There are a pair of BIG games tonight, and some more this weekend, that could shuffle up the Super 7 even more, after some position changes this week. And, for the first time since we launched YourSportsEdge.Com, and the 2nd Region Softball “Super 7”, there is someone besides the Christian County Lady Colonels in the #1 spot. The #1 and #2 teams in the Super 7 are set to meet tonight for the first time this season, as well as the teams ranked at #3 and #4. We have reached the fun part of the season.
Madisonville (6-4) – The Lady Maroons are 6-0 against teams not from the state of Alabama. We will find out much more about this team tonight, as they travel to take on Christian County. They follow that game up with a Friday battle against the Webster County Lady Trojans. Big couple of days for the Lady Maroons.
Christian County (12-2) – The Lady Colonels rebounded nicely from losses to Butler and Lyon County by taking down Massac County and Meade County on Saturday, and then slamming South Warren Tuesday. Pitching depth is going to determine much about this season for Christian County, since they can hit the cover off the ball and score runs like crazy. Can one of the young pitchers step up and provide some support for Hannah Sumner.
Henderson County (15-0) – After their struggles last season, no one could really see this start coming for the northern Lady Colonels. Like the two teams ranked in front of them, we will find out much more about how far they have come, tonight, as they take on Webster County. A win over the Lady Trojans would firm up their grip on the #3 spot in the rankings for the time being. Henderson has shut out 8 opponents so far this season.
Webster County (12-3) – When Karlie Keeney pitches, the Lady Trojans are good, very very good. Much like Christian County, the question becomes what happens when they have to go to #2 or #3 in the circle. A big one, really big one, coming up tonight as Webster County hosts Henderson County in what should be a good one.
Lyon County (10-7) – The Lady Lyons got off to a really tough start at the beginning of the season. After starting 1-5, they have now won 9 of their last 11, with a tough loss to McCracken County and another tough loss to Shelbyville Central, in an abbreviated game, the only things keeping them from being on a 10 game winning streak. An All A regional championship is not out of the realm of possibility this week.
Caldwell County (2-8) – The Lady Tigers have played a tough schedule, but have been inconsistent at times in the early part of the season. A good weekend coming up at the Marshall County Slugfest might be a confidence boost that this team could use. And, with some winnable games over the next two or three weeks, might get this team on a bit of a roll.
Crittenden County (8-6) – Much like Lyon County, the Lady Rockets got off to a tough start in 2019. They lost arguably their best player during basketball season to a knee injury, Then, they start off at 2-5 coming out of the gate. Since then, Crittenden has gone 6-1, with only a close loss to Muhlenberg County keeping them from ripping off seven in a row.
