Caldwell County Holds Off Hoptown Rally for 4-2 Road Win

The Caldwell County Tigers held off a Hopkinsville rally in the bottom of the 7th inning and picked up a 4-2 road win Friday evening in Hopkinsville. Cody Holub struck out John Duvall with the bases loaded to end the game. Holub had struggled in the inning, giving up four walks, but did manage to strike out three batters in the inning.

Caldwell County took the lead in the game in the top of the 3rd when John Davis connected for a single to drive in Oliver Parker and Cody Holub to give Caldwell County a 2-0 lead.

Hopkinsville cut the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the inning when Caleb Bapp singled to drive in Blake Balthrop.

Caldwell County moved out to a 3-1 lead in the top of the 4th when Oliver Parker grounded out, driving in Cody Holub.

Caldwell County added an insurance run in the top of the 6th when Oliver Parker doubled and then scored on a groundout by Tate VanHooser, extending the Caldwell County lead to 4-1, and setting up the dramatic finish.

Oliver Parker was 2-4 for Caldwell County, with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored. John Davis went 2-4, with a pair of RBIs.

Blake Balthrop and Ryan Myers were each 1-3 for Hopkinsville. Caleb Bapp went 1-4, with an RBI.

Gabe East picked up the win for Caldwell County, going six innings, giving up one run, on three hits, striking out seven, while walking none.

Robert Justus was charged with the loss for Hopkinsville. Justus went four innings, giving up three runs, only one of which was earned, on eight his, striking out three, and walking one.
