Tyler Shemwell’s Walkoff Completes Lady Colonel Comeback Over McCracken

Tyler Shemwell capped off a come from behind rally for the Christian County Lady Colonels with a walkoff two run homer in the bottom of the 8th inning, as the Lady Colonels knocked off the McCracken County Lady Mustangs. The walkoff home run finished the comeback from 4-0 down for the Lady Colonels.

The Lady Mustangs got to Christian County starter Hannah Sumner for 4 runs over the first three innings. After that, Sumner clamped down and kept the game where her teammates could make their climb back into the game. From the 4th inning on, Sumner gave up only one single and one walk to McCracken County.

Christian County made their move beginning in the bottom of the 4th. Hope Jones blasted a home run to left field to cut the lead to 4-1. The homer was one of only two hits the Lady Colonels were able to get off McCracken starter Natalie Lang in her four innings of work,

In the bottom of the 6th, Emmy Blane got things started with a one out single. Blane would scored on a two out double to right field by Hope Jones. Reni Shemwell followed up with a shot to right field that tied the game at 6-6 heading into the 7th inning.

Neither team got anything going in the 7th inning, and the Lady Mustangs went down in order in the top of the 8th. Emmy Blane led off the bottom of the inning with a single, setting the stage for Tyler Shemwell’s game winner.

Tyler Shemwell was 1-4, with a home run, and two RBIs. Reni Shemwell went 1-3, with a home run and two RBIs. Hope Jones added to the effort going 2-2, with a double, a home run, and two RBIs.

In the circle, Hannah Sumner gave up four runs over eight innings, three of them earned, on six hits, striking out two and walking two.
