Russellville eighth grader Amiyah Collier struck out 16 batters and hurled a no-hitter Tuesday in the Lady Panthers’ 1-0 win over Todd County Central.
The first 11 outs of the game recorded by Russellville were Collier strikeouts. They needed Collier’s heroics because they were held to just four hits by the Lady Rebels’ Abby McPhearson. She struck out five.
The only run of the game came on a fourth inning home run by Russellville’s Chloe Whitescarver.
Todd County did advance a runner to third in the fifth inning when Paige Rager walked, stole second and third but was stranded by a strikeout.
It was the first 1-0 game Todd County Central has played in since they beat Glasgow 1-0 in the championship of the Fourth Region All-A Classic in 2015.
Russellville improves to 12-4 overall and 2-1 in the 13th District. Todd County Central drops to 3-8 overall and 0-3 in district play. The Lady Rebels will play a doubleheader at Glasgow Saturday.
