Lyon County blasted four home runs and seven extra base hits as the posted a 15-0 road win at Murray Monday. The victory moved the Lady Lyons’ winning streak to six games.
The Lady Lyons entered the week second to only Christian County in team hone runs. Sophomore Calista Collins hit a pair of dingers to give her nine for the season and move her past Christian County’s Tyler Shemwell and Reni Shemwell (both with 8) for the region lead.
Collins’ first homer was a three-run shot in the first inning. Sydney Melton added an RBI double in the second inning for a 4-0 lead.
Kaelyn Conger got in on the round-tripper fun in the third inning with a two-run shot to left field and a 6-0 lead. Culp added an RBI single in the same inning, and Melton plated two more with a double to left field.
Collins’ second home run came via the lead-off variety in the fourth inning.
Melton capped off her six-RBI day with a three-run home run in the fifth inning. She finished with three of Lyon County’s 13 hits.
Collins, Conger, and Culp each had two hits with Conger adding four RBIs.
Conger pitched the final four innings to get the win. She allowed one hit and struck out nine Murray batters.
Lyon County has allowed three or fewer runs in 10 straight games. They are 9-1 during that stretch. The Lady Lyons (14-7) will host Livingston Central Tuesday in the Fifth District showdown at Lee S. Jones Park.
