Many people involved in 2nd Region athletics in any fashion would, I dare to say, list him as one of their favorite people to work with in high school athletics. This week he was duly recognized for the work he does every day to benefit high school athletes, especially those at Lyon County High School.

During this week’s state athletic director’s conference, Lyon County AD Jeff Doom was recognized as the KHSADA Athletic Director of the Year for District. Doom has served not only as the athletic director during his tenure at Lyon County, but has also coached for several years, including long stints with the Lady Lyons softball and basketball programs.

Doom began his teaching career at Dawson Springs in 1989, then moved to Hickman County and taught at Hickman County High School for the next two years. After two years at Hickman County, he was hired at Lyon County High School. In addition to his duties as AD and coach, Doom also works as a Health & PE teacher, Dean of Student Affairs (Discipline), and Bus Driver.
