Breckinridge County Sweeps Softball Doubleheader at Fort Campbell

Breckinridge County swept both ends of a varsity softball doubleheader at Fort Campbell on Saturday.

The visiting Lady Tigers won the opener 20-1 before taking game two 15-0. Each game went just three innings.

Breckinridge recorded 15 base hits in the opener and blew open the game by scoring 13 runs in the top of the top of the third inning.

Fort Campbell actually led 1-0 when Emma Kaack singled and later scored in the bottom of the first.

However, Breckinridge scored seven times in the second before going up 20-1 in the third.

The Lady Falcons had just four base hits. Juli Curney tripled while Kaack, Emalee Montalvo and Hannah Carbaugh each singled.

Caster was 3-for-4 and scored tree times to lead Breckinridge. Savannah Young homered while going 2-for-2 with three RBIs while Morgan Tabor and Brianna Parr each went 2-for-3 and drove in three.

Brooke Ford was the winning pitcher, striking out four and walking one.

In the second game, Breckinridge (10-12) scored 14 times in the top of the first inning while finishing off the twinbill sweep.

Parr pitched that game for the Lady Tigers, allowing just one hit while striking out nine and walking none.

Cadie Suding singled for the lone hit for Fort Campbell (1-14).

Parr and Opal Riedling each had two hits for Breckinridge, which recorded nine base hits.
