Four-Star Michigan De-Commit Branham to Visit Kentucky This Weekend

Four-star Ohio receiver Kalil Branham, a former Michigan commit, will make his official visit to Kentucky this weekend. He has already been on campus for an unofficial visit for the Blue-White Game but will be back for his official visit after surprisingly de-committing from Michigan in mid-April after a weekend visit.

Branham seems to have made a connection with four-star quarterback Beau Allen of Lexington Catholic, who will make his college choice Monday and all signs indicate it will be Kentucky where his father, Bill, once played quarterback.

Branham, who is from Columbus, seemed to fall out of favor with the Michigan coaches after a change of position coaches, and that may have led to his de-commitment after his last visit to the Wolverines.

“After much prayer, careful consideration (and) guidance from my parents, entire family (and) friends (I) have decided to decommit from the University of Michigan (and) re-open my recruitment,” Branham tweeted in mid-April.

He is ranked among the nation’s top 400 players overall and had been verbally committed to Michigan for almost a year. The 6-1, 190-pound Branham now plays quarterback but is projected as a receiver in college much like current Kentucky junior Lynn Bowden was.

Branham also recently visited Louisville and said he liked receivers coach Gunter Brewer. He also praised the facilities, including the dorm where freshmen football players reside.
