Hopkinsville had a banner day at the Henderson County Track and Field Invitational Friday, winning first place in eight events and setting five new school records in the process.
Chase Atkins broke his own school records in winning both the 1600-meter run (4:35.32) and 3200-meter run (10:01.49).
Keane Mumford added to his school record in the discus throw (130-06), and the 400-meter relay team of Xavier Bussell, JeVon Leavell, Tyler Greenwell, and Kyren Palmer also set a new mark in 42.60 seconds.
For the ladies, freshman Allison Wood set a new school record in the 3200-meter run and just missed another one in the 1600-meter run by a second.
Hopkinsville won the men’s division with 135 points, 25 more than second place Owensboro. Apollo was third with 99 points.
Hoptown’s girls finished in sixth place with 59 points. Henderson County and Daviess County tied for first place with 107 points.
