The Caldwell County Lady Tigers appear to be finding their rhythm at just the right time. Led by an all out assault off the bat of Mashea Glover, the Lady Tigers went on the road Monday evening and routed the Lyon County Lady Lyons 16-2 in five innings.
Caldwell County scored 12 runs over the 2nd and 3rd innings to effectively end the game before it really got started. In the second, Madi Choate and Mashea Glover each hit two run homers to spearhead the attack.
Emma Rae Staples and Karlie Rennison doubled in the third, again setting things up for Glover, who came up big with an inside-the-park three run homer to set up another big inning. By the time the third inning was over, Caldwell County was cruising along with a 12-0 lead.
Lyon County trimmed the lead to 12-2 in the bottom of the fourth. One of the runs scored on a Calista Collins home run to centerfield.
The Lady Tigers then put the game away with four runs in the top of the 5th inning. One of the runs scored on a solo shot from Mashea Glover, her third home run of the game.
Mashea Glover had a monstrous night for Caldwell County, going 3-4, with three home runs, six RBI’s, and three runs scored. Madi Choate was 3-4, with a home run, a double, 4 RBIs, and three runs scored. Karlie Rennison was 2-3, with two RBIs, and a run scored. Emma Rae Staples ended up 2-4, with a double, a triple, two RBIs, and two runs scored.
For Lyon County, Calista Collins was 1-3, with a home run, and an RBI.
In the circle, Caldwell County’s Katie Franklin picked up the win, going five innings, giving up just one earned run, striking out seven, while walking one.
Three Lyon County pitchers were roughed up for 16 runs, all of them earned, on 18 hits, four of those being home runs.
