Logan County outhomered Hopkinsville, but the Tigers outscored Logan County to win a 14-11 slugfest Monday in Russellville.
John Duvall and Ryan Myers both homered for Hopkinsville. Duvall drove in three runs, and Myers added two RBIs.
Hoptown fell behind 3-0 after the first inning on home runs by Parker White and Koby Wall but scored the next seven runs.
Duvall’s homer was a three-run shot to center field in the third inning. Myers added a two-run shot to left in the third.
Duvall finished with four of Hopkinsville’s 12 hits. Logan Durst had a two-run double as part of his two-hit day, and Preston Chaudoin added two hits and two RBIs.
Hoptown survived a grand slam by Braxton Meguiar in the seventh.
Zach Caudill picked up the win for Hopkinsville, while Aaron Crosby got the save.
Nate Woodall was 4-for-4 with two RBIs for Logan County (21-5), who received votes in this week’s statewide coaches’ poll.
Hopkinsville (15-7) will travel to Ohio County Tuesday.
