A familiar face will be returning to Elkton to coach the Todd County Central boys’ basketball team. Dennis Pardue was named the coach of the Rebels Friday.
Pardue has spent 20 years as basketball coach at Todd County Central, Russellville, Garrard County, and most recently at Clarksville Kenwood.
He coached at Todd County Central from 1998-2004, leading the Rebels to three district championships, three All-A region titles, and a region runner-up finish in 2002. His record at Todd County was 105-56.
He won 19 or more games in his six seasons with the Rebels. One of Pardue’s top players in his time at Todd County was Mike Wells, who went on to a stellar career at Western Kentucky University.
He took Russellville head coaching job in 2004 where he amassed a 142-90 record in eight seasons.
After a short stint at Garrard County, Pardue led Kenwood to a 66-46 record from 2014-18. His career coaching record of 322-213 over 20 seasons as a head coach.
Pardue is a graduate of Auburn High School.
“I am really looking forward to meeting all the student-athletes and ready to get practice started. I want the community to come out and support the TCCHS Boys Basketball Program as we embark on this new journey together,” Pardue said in a statement supplied by the school Friday.
Pardue replaces Frank Johnson, who resigned in February after three seasons and a 33-54 record. The Rebels struggled to a 5-24 record in 2018-19 and graduated two seniors.
