Two Hopkinsville Track Records Fall at the Area 1 Championships

Two school records fell for Hopkinsville Friday at the Area 1 Track and Field Championships, including one that was nearly two decades old.

Xavier Bussell set a new school record in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.82 seconds, bettering the old mark of 10.9 seconds set by Brandon Hayes in 2000.

Meanwhile, Keane Mumford broke his own school record in the discus throw by nearly four feet.  He tossed the disc 136-feet, 4-inches and finished third.

The Tigers finished fifth in the boys’ standings with 65 points.  Paducah Tilghman won the event with 129 points.

Hopkinsville’s girls finished ninth in the team standings with 34 points.
