Hopkinsville discus and shot-putter Keane Mumford has seen a steady increase in his distance in the discus recently and seems to be peaking at the right time with the regional meet just a week away. Mumford took first at the Toyota of Hopkinsville Invitational with a 125-11, first at the Coach Johnson Memorial Classic with a 129-05 and just a week ago took second at the Henderson County Invitational with a 130-06.
While he didn’t finish in the top spot at Friday night’s Area 1 Championships at McCracken County, he did throw a personal record of 136-04, good enough for fourth place.
Afterward, Mumford talked about his season-high performance and the distance he’d like to reach at the upcoming regional meet.
