An improved 13th District wasn’t a good match for a Todd County Central team that opens postseason play against the top seed on their home field.
The Lady Rebels (9-16) enter the district tournament as the No. 4 seed with nine overall wins for the second straight season. They will play top seed Logan County (22-6) at 5:30 Monday in Russellville.
Shelby Gettings pitched a perfect game for the Lady Cougars against Todd on April 23, a 16-0 three-inning win that sent Logan County to their eighth straight win against the Lady Rebels.
Logan won the earlier matchup 10-0.
Russellville (20-7) and two-time defending district champion Franklin-Simpson (18-16) play in the 7:30 nightcap.
An upset by Todd County Central would give them their first berth in the district title game since 2014. Two wins this week would mean the school’s first district title in 11 years.
Monday’s winners meet Tuesday at 6pm in the championship game at Logan County High School.
