Webster County used a big 3rd inning to take control of the game and advanced on to the regional softball semifinals with a 11-0 win over the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers Monday afternoon in Dixon. The Lady Trojans plated five runs in the third, all of them coming with two outs, to break a 0-0 tie. The first two runs scored on wild pitches.
Webster County added six more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and then set the Lady Tigers down in the top of the 5th to end the game. The Lady Trojans took advantage of pitching struggles for Hopkinsville, as they were the recipients of eight walks and four hit batters. Hopkinsville was also charged with two errors in the game.
In the circle, Karlie Keeney went four innings for Webster County, giving up just one hit, while striking out nine. Grace Scott entered the game in the fifth inning to close it out for the Lady Trojans.
Taiya Straight was 1-2, with a double, picking up the only hit in the game for Hopkinsville.
