Sophomore Tori Schenk had not started a game for Lyon County in over two months and entered Monday’s region tournament with an ERA of 8.21. It didn’t matter. Lyon County Coach Jason Collins had a feeling his sophomore pitcher would be the right fit in their region opener against Caldwell County. Turns out, he was right. Schenk pitched a three-hit shutout to help propel the Lady Lyons into Tuesday’s semifinal.
