Caldwell County had the potential tying run at second base and the go-ahead run at first with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning of Thursday’s 2nd Region championship game.
Cody Holub then ripped a pitch up the middle, but Hopkinsville second baseman Preston Chaudoin made the grab for the third out of the inning, preserving Hoptown’s 6-5 lead.
Hopkinsville went on to claim a 9-5 victory and the regional title.
