Hopkinsville Golfers Show Out in First Girls’ Go Junior Series Stop

Hopkinsville seventh grader Cate Blane shot an 87 to finish in second place in her age division in the GO Junior Golf Series’ first stop on the southern tour Monday at the Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club.

Blane shot an 87 over 18 holes to finish two shots behind the winner, Karra Tucker of Madisonville who shot an 85.

University Heights Academy freshman Rheagan Lindsey improved her game 21 shots from Thursday’s Junior PGA stop to shoot a 92 and finish in third place in the 13-15 division.

Christian County’s Bridget Owens tied for second place in the GO Series 16-18 age division Monday at the Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club.

Rheagan’s sister Conlee, shot a 103 to finish in sixth place. Conlee, like Blane, will be a seventh grader in the fall and will be eligible to play for her high school’s golf team.

In the girls’ 16-18 division, Madisonville’s Kaitlyn Zieba shot an 81 to finish in first place. Christian County’s Hannah Sumner and Bridget Owens both shot an 86, with Owens winning second place in a scorecard tiebreaker.

In the nine-hole 13-15 age division, Russellville’s Abby-Grace Forbes took first place with a score of 52, edging Hopkinsville’s Anna Fort by one shot.

In the 9-10 age group, Campbell Lindsey of Hopkinsville won with a six-hole score of 39. Ellie Hightower finished in second place after shooting a 41, and Allie Sandifer was third with a 42.

Emme Hightower won the 8-and-under division by shooting a score of 22 over three holes.

The GO Junior Series is based in Owensboro and operates a northern division and a southern division.
