Coach Johnny Blane stepped down after a six-year stretch as the softball coach at Christian County High School, but not before he picked up a final honor on the way out. Recently, Blane was announced as the 2nd-Region softball Coach of the Year after a 28-9 season that ended with a loss to Henderson County in the first round of the regional tournament.
Over his time leading the Lady Colonels, he compiled a 167-64 record with six 8th-District titles, a region championship, and two region runners-up. After 2018’s region title, the Lady Colonels beat Marshall County and Oldham County at the KHSAA state tourney, before falling to eventual champion Scott County and East Carter.
