Matt Wilder, seen here coaching Trigg County's softball team in April, has resigned as Wildcat cross country coach after one season.
The coaching dominoes continue to fall at Trigg County as Matt Wilder has stepped down as cross country coach after one season.
Wilder informed the team of his decision this week, citing the need to spend more time with his aging parents and family.
In his lone season as head coach, Wilder helped coach the Wildcats to fourth place finishes at the Class 2A, Region I Meet. It marked only the third time in 31 years that Trigg County sent both a boys’ and girls’ complete team to the state meet. The girls finished 27th at the state meet, while the boys were 30th.
Both teams are scheduled to return most of their runners from last year. However, with the start of practice just six weeks away, Trigg County has a short timetable to find a new coach.
Wilder is the third coach at Trigg County in the past week to announce their resignation, joining Matt McMain (track and field) and his wife Toree (softball).
