Hoppers Make it Six in a Row With 10-2 Rout of Miners (w/PHOTOS)

After struggling out of the gate to a 1-3 start, the Hoptown Hoppers are now the hottest team in the Ohio Valley League. The Hoppers used a five run third inning to springboard their way to a 10-2 blowout of the Madisonville Miners Thursday evening at Hopkinsville High School for their 6th consecutive win.

The Miners got out to an early 2-0 lead with single runs in the top of the first and the top of the second.

The Hoppers offense then erupted for five runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Hoptown tied the game at 2-2 when a pair of runs scored on a Miners error. The Hoppers scored three more in the inning on an RBI double from Seth Bennett, an RBI single from Jacob Jenkins, and an RBI triple from Cameron Hill.

Hopkinsville extended the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning with four more runs. The Hoppers scored the runs on a fielder’s choice, a single, a wild pitch, and a sacrifice bunt. Another Miner error in the 6th inning allowed Hoptown to add an insurance run and extend the lead to 10-2.

The Hoppers were led by Wyatt Stevenson, who went 3-5, with a double, and a run scored. Cameron Hill ended up 3-5, with a triple, two RBI’s, and a run scored. Seth Bennett finished 2-3, with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored.

Hunter Crosby picked up the win for Hoptown, going six innings, giving up two runs, on six hits, striking out ten, while walking four.
