After one round of play at the 2019 Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Kentucky Amateur, Hopkinsville’s Austin Knight finds himself in the thick of the race to take home the title. When the opening finished up Tuesday, Knight was two shots off the lead after shooting an opening round one under par 71. The score places Knight in a three-way tie for 6th place.

The trio of Luke Fuller, of Mt. Sterling, Robbie Bender, of Lousville, and Jacob Poore, of Union, are all tied at -3 after the opening day.

During his round, Knight was fairly consistent, shooting 36 on the front nine, and 35 on the back. He had three birdies, two bogeys on the day.

Tadd Switzer, of Hopkinsville, was just two shots further back, after shooting +1 for the day. Switzer was hot on the front nine, shooting a 34, but finished with a 39 after the turn. A double-bogey on #13 kept him for finishing under par in the round.

The day was a bit tougher for Lyon County’s Cullan Brown. The UK sophomore shot a six over par 78 for the opening round. Brown struggled a bit out of the gate with a 41 on the front nine, but then settled in with a 37 on the back.

Brian Landrum, of Hopkinsville, finished the opening round thirteen shots off the lead with an opening round score of 82.

The tournament is being played at the Country Club of Paducah.
