Two bad holes was all that separated Hannah Sumner from sitting in the top 20 after the first day of the Kentucky Girls’ Junior Amateur at Cherry Blossom Golf Course in Georgetown Monday.
Sumner struggled on two par-fives in her round, shooting a combined 9-over par on the ninth and 17th holes.
Aside from that, Sumner was solid. She finished the other 16 holes at 9-over par which would have seen her make a run at a new personal best of 85 set last week.
The Christian County senior sits in a tie for 44th place at +18 with a final round set for Tuesday.
Faith Martin of Rockfield in Warren County is tied with Campbellsville’s Addie Westbrook for the lead at 2-under.
Crittenden County senior Lauren Gilchrist is tied for 24th at 11-over par.
