Whitney Holder knows she has a challenge in front of her, but she is ready to embrace it. Holder was introduced as the new Christian County cross country coach Wednesday at the school.

Holder replaces Ken Harrison who coached the Colonel teams for one season before returning to Trigg County where he coached in 2017.

Holder is an Indiana native who ran cross country in high school and at Oakland City College in Indiana. Her husband recently relocated to Fort Campbell.

Rebuilding the program at Christian County is a tall task but not an impossible one. Christian County last had a girls’ runner qualify for the state meet in 2015. The boys’ team has not qualified a runner since 2013.

Holder said she wants to get kids out running as early as possible and will encourage athletes in other sports to run on team as a way of getting into shape for their winter or spring season.

Holder will teach at Millbrooke Elementary School.
