Heritage Christian Academy will have one fewer state rival after the Kentucky High School Athletic Association approved the member school application of Highlands Latin Thursday at their Board of Control Meeting.

The defection of Highlands Latin, located in Louisville, still gives the Kentucky Christian Athletic Association 26 member schools.

The Highlanders are the four-time KCAA state baseball champions, including a win over Heritage Christian in the 2019 title game. Highlands Latin also eliminated HCA in the first round of the KCAA State Softball Tournament in the spring on their way to a state title.

No timetable was immediately known on when Highlands Latin will begin play in the KHSAA or where they will be aligned for district and region play.
