Caldwell County assistant coach Will Barnes said the Tiger coaching staff saw several encouraging signs during the team’s first football scrimmage Friday night at Madisonville-North Hopkins.
While Caldwell’s reserves struggled against the much-deeper Maroons, the Tiger first stringers were very competitive against a Class 4A Madisonville team that went 10-3 a year ago.
Caldwell scrimmages at Hopkins County Central next week before opening the regular season at home the following Friday against Christian County.
