The preseason edition of the 2019 YSE 2nd Region Volleyball Super 7 again has some very familiar faces towards the top of the list. The question at the beginning of the season is who will try and climb the ladder to be the surprise team to contend for the regional title. A very interesting season is about to get underway.

– University Heights (25-15) – Twenty-five wins and an All A Regional title in 2018 are nothing to sneeze at. The All A repeat gets a little more challenging with Caldwell back in the All A for 2019. With their returning experience, this could be a big year for the Lady Blazers to take the next step. They are positioned to make 2019 something special.

– Caldwell County (24-10) – The Lady Tigers split their matchups with Henderson County last season, however Henderson got the one that mattered the most in the regional semifinals. A big mid-season showdown could happen in the All A Classic, with a possible regional semifinal matchup against UHA. The losses of Sheadon Allen and Kaitlyn Conway are tough, but this team has experience all over the floor.

– Henderson County (23-12) – The Lady Colonels will open the 2019 season as the defending region champs. Henderson had only three seniors on the roster last year, however one of those was Hannah Watkins. That will be a big pair of shoes to fill, if the Lady Colonels are going to repeat, and stay ahead of Caldwell County.

– Madisonville (20-13) – Still can’t figure out what happened to the Lady Maroons in that district semifinal loss to Hopkins Central. The graduation of Averi Moody will leave a big hole at the net for Madisonville. Finding someone to fill her shoes could be key for the season.

– Hopkins Central (19-15) – The Lady Storm were playing their best at the end of the season. Losses to both Crittenden County and Madisonville were avenged when it mattered in the post season. Interesting to see if that progress carries over to the beginning of a new season.

– Crittenden County (25-6) – The Lady Rockets were very good at winning the games they were supposed to win last season. They still need to find a way to knock off one of the top tier to establish themselves as a player in the region. Some big graduation losses could make that a challenged.

– Hopkinsville (9-25) – The Lady Tigers going 9-25 last season just does not make sense. Nevertheless, it happened. They did manage to knock off Christian County in the district semis, and then make UHA and Henderson County fight to pick up four set wins. Could be a rebound year if the pieces fall into place.
