Led by a second place finish by Austin Cavanaugh, Trigg County’s cross country team opened their season with a fourth place finish at the Fulton County Invitational.
Cavanaugh, a freshman, took second place in a time of 17:53 over the 3.1-mile course, finishing five seconds behind Paducah Tilghman’s Jake Taylor.
Marshall Jenkins was 10th (19:12) and was followed across the line by Alex Skinner in 12th (19:28) and Apolo Blackbear-Francis in 13th (19:44).
Tyler Freeman (21:31) was 37th, and Ryan Simpson (23:35) was 53rd.
As a team, Trigg County finished fourth with 70 points. Calloway County took first place with 50 points.
Riley Thompson won the middle school boys’ race, covering the two-mile course in a time of 11:47. As a team, Trigg County took fourth place.
Trigg County will host the Fenton Dawson Memorial Invitational Saturday at the Complex.
