Hoptown Splits Pool Play Matches at Summer Slam

The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers finally got to open the 2019 volleyball season Friday evening at the Apollo Summer Slam. The Lady Tigers came away with a split of their two pool play matches, which will have them headed for the silver bracket on Saturday.

The Lady Tigers battled their way to a three set win over Hancock County. Hoptown took down the Lady Hornets 22-25, 25-18, and 15-1. In the match with Hancock, Hopkinsville was led by Hope Pace with 1 block, 7 kills, and 1 ace. Shelby Isenhoff added 5 kills. Alyssa Bearns also had a big match with 8 kills and 3 aces. Hailey Hallmark chipped in with 1 block and 4 kills.

Hopkinsville also faced off with Taylor County during the pool play portion of the tournament. The Lady Tigers battled, but fell to the Lady Cardinals in straight sets 25-16 and 26-24.

Hopkinsville is now 1-1 on the season and will be playing the silver bracket Saturday at the Cliff Hagan Boys & Girls Club in Owensboro.
