Led by six goals from Rose Smith, the Lyon County girls’ soccer team moved to 4-1 on the season with a 7-2 victory over visiting Mayfield on Friday night. The Lady Lyons have won four-straight after an opening night loss to Hopkins County Central, the program’s best start since the 2007 squad son seven in a row after dropping its opener.
Smith continued her torrid start to the campaign, taking her season goal total to 19. Crista Cummins added a goal and Emily Smith provided an assist. Abby Smith saved 9 of the 11 shots she faced to earn the win in goal.
On Monday, the Lady Lyons will look to continue their streak when they welcome Caldwell County to Lee S. Jones Park.
