Cullan Brown Diagnosed with Rare Bone Cancer

Former Lyon County golfer Cullan Brown is leaving the University of Kentucky golf program to begin the fight against a rare form of cancer. Brown announced Saturday that he was diagnosed this past week with osteosarcoma, which is a rare type of bone cancer.

Reports out of Lexington indicate that Brown will begin his chemotherapy treatments next week. WLEX-TV reports that the diagnosis came after several doctor’s visits over the past several weeks.

Brown was named to the All-SEC Freshman Team following his first year with the UK golf team. After sitting out the fall season with an injury, Brown returned to be a big part of the UK team in the spring, with starts in the SEC Championship, and the NCAA Athens Regional.

Brown also just made his first appearance in a PGA event, finishing 53rd in the Barbasol Championship in Nicholasville.

Cullan won the KHSAA boys golf title in 2016.
