Tomas Duncan had not planned to make his 2019 cross country debut at Saturday’s Fenton Dawson Invitational at Trigg County. However, plans changed and 13 hours later, the University Heights Academy junior won his season opener by 28 seconds over Webster County’s Ryan Roland. Trigg County freshman Austin Cavanaugh was third.
Duncan had been attending UHA’s annual outdoor school where the entire student body takes a week-long trip to experience integrated learning activities and bond as a student body. Duncan arrived home from Charleston, South Carolina around nine Friday night.
After consecutive region titles, Duncan has his sights set on a top-5 finish at the Class A State Meet in October.
