Todd County Central entered Saturday the winners of three straight Girls’ 4th Region All-A Classic soccer titles. The last team to beat them was Glasgow in 2015.
After three years of missing the All-A, Glasgow was reclassified back in for 2019-20 and reclaimed the All-A region title with a 1-0 win over the Lady Rebels Saturday in Russellville.
Aubrey Phillips redirected a cross from Dinah Miranda midway through the first half for the only goal of the match. Glasgow had two other chances to build on their lead but missed on a pair of penalty kick opportunities.
Glasgow outshot Todd County Central 10-3 in the first half and 17-9 for the match. Todd got several breakaway opportunities in the match but couldn’t convert. Their best chance to tie the match came with 18 minutes left when Alexis Andrews’ shot caromed off the post.
Sam Case had nine saves for the Lady Rebels, including both stops on the penalty kick chances. Glasgow’s Paige Burd made six saves.
Glasgow (5-2) avenged a 2-1 loss to the Lady Rebels Aug. 19 and will host Third Region champion Owensboro Catholic in the All-A sectional.
Todd County Central (7-6) will jump back into district play Tuesday at Franklin-Simpson.
