No changes this week in the YSE 2nd Region Volleyball Super 7. At this point, the top three appear to be clear of the rest of the pack, but that could change over the final month of the season. Caldwell County looks to make some hay this week at the All A State Tournament, while UHA is looking to take their All A regional loss and make it work for them headed down the stretch. Waiting in the wings is Henderson County, just looking for their chance to make a move.
1 – Caldwell County (10-3) – Coming off their All A regional title, the Lady Tigers dropped a pair of tough matches to Logan County and Graves County. Logan is 13-1, Graves is 10-3, so no disgrace in those losses. Lady Tigers looking to make noise this weekend at the All A State Tournament.
2 – University Heights (10-2) – The Lady Blazers have done what you are supposed to do coming off a tough loss. Three straight sweeps over district opponents. Next big battle for UHA looks to be on September 24, when they take on Madisonville.
3 – Henderson County (12-6) – The northern Lady Colonels getting on a bit of a roll. They have won five straight since a loss to Apollo. They did have to battle two tough sets to get a win over a very solid Crittenden County team.
4 – Madisonville (8-8) – The Lady Maroons continue to be one of those teams who win the matches they are supposed to win. The question for this team is can they find a way to knock off one of the top three. That would place them as a possible contender come region tournament time.
5 – Crittenden County (7-11) – The Lady Rockets had their struggle against some better competition at the Sportsplex. What keeps them ahead of Webster County at this point, is beating the Lady Trojans head-to-head in a five set battle. It appears those two are very close in ability.
6 – Webster County (6-10) – Another team winning the matches they are supposed to win. They get a chance over the next week or so to make a statement with matches coming up against Caldwell County, Madisonville, and Henderson County.
7 – Hopkinsville (3-6) – The Lady Tigers showed flashes against UHA, but were just not able to carry it out over an entire set. This still feels like a team you do not want to face in a one-and-done situation at the end of the season.
