The surging Fort Campbell boys’ soccer team picked up its second-straight win and is unbeaten in its last three outings, topping visiting Christian County 5-2 Tuesday night on post. Jhony Paniagua-Solis celebrated his senior night in style with a hat trick, helping the Falcons improve to 1-3 in district play and 4-7-1 overall.
Fort Campbell jumped out to a 2-0 lead, before Christian County’s Benito Rubio pulled a goal back for a 2-1 halftime score.
The Falcons added a third after the break, but Rubio once again had an answer to keep the Colonels within a goal. However, it would be all Fort Campbell from there, with the Falcons scoring 3 unanswered goals for the final margin.
Jorge Ballestero joined Paniagua-Solis on the scoresheet with a couple of goals and an assist, while senior Jack Cogbill got in on the act with two assists. Senior goalkeeper Zac Jones was also instrumental in the win, making 10 saves to prolong Christian County’s winless streak to nine games.
Fort Campbell will look to continue its hot streak on Thursday when they go on the road to face Logan County. The Colonels will also be on the road on Thursday at Paducah Tilghman.
