Hopkinsville junior Chase Atkins continues to trim seconds off his personal best time and bring hardware home from prestigious cross country meets. Atkins finished in third place Saturday at the Gatorland Classic in Bowling Green. He covered the 3.1-mile course in 16:40, which was 40 seconds behind the race winner Jimmy Mullarkey of Fern Creek.
Chance Jones was Hoptown’s second runner across the finish line in 86th place in 19:29, followed by Zachary Gugle (173rd, 21:20); Jonathan Quincey (201st, 22:01); and Jerel Lee (301st, 27:38).
As a team, Hopkinsville finished 18th out of 26 teams in the race.
