5-9-russell

Ben Russell has stepped down as Heritage Christian Academy soccer coach just over the midway point in the season. Russell, in his first season as coach, said he resigned his position Thursday. Neither he, nor HCA Athletic Director Candy Hayes, gave a reason for his resignation.

Assistant coach Jeff Alcorn coached the team Saturday in their 6-1 loss at Somerset Christian. Thomas West had the lone goal for the Warriors, who fell to 4-5 overall and 3-3 in KCAA play. Somerset Christian is unbeaten and ranked No. 1 in the KCAA Power Poll. Heritage was ranked No. 5.

Heritage Christian returns to action this weekend as they travel to Lexington to play No. 2 Trinity Christian and No. 3 Assumption.
