Grayden Miller scored twice and Josh Hagan made 20 saves as Caldwell County nipped Christian County 3-2 in soccer action Tuesday night inside the wall at Butler Stadium in Princeton.
The teams battled back-and-forth in the physical contest, which included a couple of small skirmishes on the field and one near the stands.
Christian (3-12-1) took a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute on a goal by Justin Knight-Blackwood.
Caldwell (4-8-1) drew even on Miller’s first goal in the 31st minute.
The Tigers then edged ahead just before halftime when Blake Vivrette converted a penalty kick in stoppage time, putting Caldwell up 2-1 at the break.
The Colonels had a chance to tie things up in the second half on a PK of their own. However, the shot hit the crossbar, but Gavrie Watkins was there to clean it up for Christian. Watkins put the rebound past Hagan to knot the game at 2-2 in the 62nd minute.
But Caldwell answered quickly. Hugo Lopez feeding a pass head to Miller in the 64th minute. Miller dribbled into the box and scored to put the Tigers in front for good.
Christian held a 22-13 advantage in shots in the contest, but Hagan was solid in the net to keep Caldwell in it.
The Tigers will play at home again on Thursday when they host Trigg County.
Christian County will entertain Henderson County on Thursday.
