Lyon County has moved into the Fifth District girls’ soccer championship game with a 4-0 win over Crittenden County in the semifinals Monday in Cadiz.
Rose Smith entered the game as the region’s second leading scorer and put the first two goals on the scoreboard Monday to stake the Lady Lyons to a 2-0 lead.
Emily Smith and Sydney Hoffman tallied Lyon’s other two goals for the final four-goal margin.
Lyon County’s defensive unit, anchored by Jordyn Schofield, Christa Cummins, and Kate Gray secured the team’s second shutout win of the season and first since Aug. 27. Abby Smith had 10 saves in goal.
Crittenden County finished the season with a record of 0-18 and have not won in 30 consecutive games dating back to last year.
Lyon County (8-12) will play Trigg County (8-10) Tuesday at six in the district title match at the Trigg County Recreation Complex. Trigg took both regular season contests by scores of 2-1 and 4-3.
