The UHA girls’ soccer team and Madisonville-North Hopkins squared off Wednesday night at the Stadium of Champions with a spot in the 2nd Region championship game on the line. After the teams couldn’t be separated over 80 minutes or two 5-minute overtimes, a penalty kick shootout was required.
The Lady Blazers would draw on the experience of two previous shootout victories this season to top the Lady Maroons 4-1 and advance to their second regional final in as many years.
Afterward, Coach Michael Parker talked about his team’s approach to dealing with Madisonville.
