The resurgence of the Todd County Central volleyball program will see them playing in the Fourth Region Tournament for the first time in three seasons.
The Lady Rebels pulled off a nerve-wracking win over host Franklin-Simpson in the semifinals of the 13th District Tournament Tuesday before falling to Logan County in the championship match.
In the semifinal match, Todd Central dropped the first set to Franklin-Simpson 25-18.
They rallied for a 25-21 win in the second set but fell on the brink of elimination with a 25-18 Lady Cat win in the third set.
The Lady Rebels won the fourth set 25-23 and held on a for 15-13 win in the deciding fifth set for their first district tournament win since 2016.
The win came in the third match between the schools this season that went five sets for a second time.
In the championship match, Logan County (22-6) took a 25-16, 25-11, 25-12 win over the Lady Rebels for their 17th consecutive district title.
Todd County enters next week’s Fourth Region Tournament with a 14-19 record – the most wins in a season since 2011. It’s will be their first region trip in three seasons and just the fourth in program history.
