Hopkinsville junior Chase Atkins secured his third trip to the KHSAA state cross country meet, posting a 3rd-place run of 16:51.64 at the Region 1 AAA meet at Marshall County High School on Saturday.
Atkins placed 29th at state last year, and after his race on Saturday he talked about his lofty goal for his next trip to Lexington.
