Former Caldwell County standout Eli Pepper has left the Glasgow Rocks of the British Basketball League.
The organization put out a short statement Tuesday that reads, “Due to personal reasons Eli Pepper has decided to terminate his contract with immediate effect and return to the United States. We would like to thank Eli for his contribution and wish him well for the future.”
Pepper, a 6-foot-8 forward, was in his first season with the professional basketball squad in Glasgow, Scotland.
At Caldwell County, Pepper finished second on Caldwell’s all-time rebounding list with 1,172 boards and ranks eighth on the Tigers’ career scoring list with 1,307 points.
Pepper was then a four-year starter at Lipscomb University in Nashville. He is the school’s career leader in rebounds during the NCAA era with 1,016, which also ranks third in Atlantic Sun Conference history. He set the program’s single-game record as a junior when he grabbed 25 rebounds against Fisk.
Pepper scored over 900 career points as a Bison and helped the team reached the championship game of the NIT at Madison Square Garden in New York City last season.
