Coaches Association Names District Players and Coaches of the Year

Several area players and coaches are among those being honored for their performances during the 2019 high school football season. The Kentucky Football Coaches Association released its Player of the Year and Coach of the Year for each district across the state.

In Class A, District 1, Sean Thompson, of Crittenden County was named Coach of the Year, while Fulton County’s Caleb Kimble was named Player of the Year.

In Class 2A, District 1, Joe Morris, of Mayfield was named Coach of the Year, while his starting quarterback Jayden Stinson was named Player of the Year. In District 2, Darell Keith, of Todd County Central was named Coach of the Year, while Drew Hartz, of Owensboro Catholic received the Player of the Year.

In Class 3A, District 1, Paducah Tilghman’s Jonathan Smith was named Coach of the Year, while Cam Jordan, of Trigg County received Player of the Year honors.

In Class 4A, District 1, Hopkinsville’s Craig Clayton was named Coach of the Year. Madisonville’s Jeriah Hightower was named Player of the Year.

In Class 5A, District 2, Mark Spader, of Bowling Green, was named Coach of the Year, while the Purples’ Evan Spader got the Player of the Year.

And, in Class 6A, District 1, Matt Brannon, of Daviess County, was named Coach of the Year. McCracken County’s Franklin Hayes received the Player of the Year.

All of the district winners are finalists for Player of the Year and Coach of the Year honors in each class, and will be officially recognized during this year’s state championship games, which will take place December 6 through December 8, in Lexington.
