After recording a 20-18 regular-season victory over Hopkinsville on October 11 in which they did most of their damage early, the Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons found themselves in a 14-0 hole to the Tigers in Saturday’s 4A District 1 championship game.
But if they Maroons and their coaches were rattled by the slow start, they didn’t show it, battling back to twice take a 4th-quarter lead on the way to a 28-21 win.
Afterward, Coach Jay Burgett talked about the play of quarterback Hayden Reynolds and running back Jeriah Hightower and had nothing but praise for the Tiger coaches and players.
