Heritage Christian Academy’s inability to take care of the basketball was their downfall Monday as the Lady Warriors dropped a 43-18 decision to visiting South Haven, Tenn. at Warrior Gym.
HCA turned the basketball over 21 times in the first half, which led to 11 Patriot points. For the game, HCA had 34 miscues, and South Haven scored 21 points after the mistakes.
The game was close early as Kinley Deason scored four straight points to keep the Lady Warriors within a point ta 9-8. South Haven then used a 12-0 run to grab a 21-8 lead as HCA went 6:41 without a bucket. Abbi Bullock’s bucket with 1:27 left in the half ended the scoring drought and provided the halftime score of 21-10.
South Haven outscored the Lady Warriors 13-3 in the third quarter, thanks to hitting 5-of-11 shots, to extend their lead to 34-13 after three quarters.
South Haven took 24 more shots than HCA because of the 19-turnover difference.
Heritage Christian hit just 7-of-32 shots from the field (22%) and were outrebounded 34-30.
Kinley Deason had six points and seven rebounds to pace HCA. Abbi Bullock added four points, and Addie Piatt hit the Lady Warriors’ lone 3-ponter and finished with four points.
South Haven (4-0) got 14 points and 12 steals from Lauren Wilson.
Heritage Christian (2-6) returns to action Thursday when they host North Hardin Christian in a KCAA contest at Warrior Gym.
