Fort Campbell is an improving girls’ basketball team. However, they are still prone to off nights from time to time. Tuesday was an off night as they failed to hit a field goal in a 41-1 loss to Trigg County on post.
Trigg County didn’t have the best of nights either but had enough firepower to continually build their lead throughout the game. The Lady Wildcats mostly played a zone defense with every bench player seeing more than ten minutes of floor time and didn’t use a full court press at any time.
Trigg County attempted 78 shots in the game and hit just 19 for 24-percent. They missed all 10 of their 3-point attempts. The Lady Wildcats outrebounded Fort Campbell 51-25 and scored 21 points off 36 Lady Falcon turnovers.
Ten Lady Wildcat scored in the game, led by T.T. Grubbs’ seven points and six rebounds. Iyanna Grubbs came off the bench to score six points, with Rylee Bush and Olivia Noffsinger each scoring five points.
Fort Campbell didn’t score until 5:39 was left and Sophia Schroeder knocked down a free throw. Fort Campbell missed all 30 of their shot attempts and 20 three-point attempts.
Trigg County improved to 2-1 on the season and will play at Livingston Central Friday.
Fort Campbell fell to 0-4 this year and will host Christian Fellowship Saturday as they look to snap their 86-game losing streak that dates back to 2016. The Lady Eagles are 1-2 this year.
