Sometimes, when you are trying to rebuild a program, the results don’t always give true indication of the steps that are being made. While the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons fell Saturday afternoon to the Chrsitian Fellowship Lady Eagles 49-23, there were stretches of the game where you could see just how much progress is being made by Coach Larry Dixon and his staff.
Fort Campbell took the early lead in the game Saturday when Arianna McDaniel knocked down a 3-pointers to go up 3-0. The Lady Eagles came back with a 12-0 run over the remainder of the quarter to take a 12-3 lead.
The second quarter saw the Lady Falcons battle on the glass and defensively, however Fort Campbell struggled to get shots to fall on the offensive end. Christian Fellowship was able to extend their lead to 23-9 at the break.
Christian Fellowship used a 10-0 run over the course of most of the third quarter to put the game away. When the quarter ended, the Lady Eagles held on to a 37-13 lead.
Just four days after being held to one point in a game, the Lady Falcons had one of their best offensive quarters of the season in the final quarter, going toe-to-toe with Christian Fellowship. The Lady Falcons also were more aggressive in attacking the basket against the taller Lady Eagles.
8th grader Marisa Cole had a big day for the Lady Falcons, finishing with 15 points. Arianna McDaniel had five points in the contest. Asia Cabili had the other three points for Fort Campbell.
Lillie Burnett paced Christian Fellowship with 15 points. Gracey Howard added 9 points, while Renee Shields finished with 8 points.
